How the dry-weather finder works

The radar shows rain detected in the last two hours and a short forecast, animated frame by frame. When you press Find dry weather, the page asks a free weather model for the next hours in more than 40 towns across Ireland and Northern Ireland, then ranks the ones in your range by the number of dry hours, the amount of rain and the cloud cover.

Tips for Irish weather

  • Showers on the west coast often move east within one to three hours — the radar animation shows the direction.
  • The east and south-east (Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford) are usually drier than the west.
  • Mountains make their own weather: a dry town can still mean cloud on the summit.
  • For hikes, sea trips and cliffs, always check Met Éireann warnings or the Met Office for Northern Ireland.

Then pick a place: open the places map.
